Kai-Muruku

This one is truly artisanal. As per tradition, ingredients are rolled together into a dough. And then patiently, every Muruku is twisted into shape – by hand. (“Kai” means hand in Tamil). A true labour of love. A soft appealing taste. A hit with Kaapi.

Ingredients: Rice flour, urad dal flour (black gram), white sesame, salt, a bit of oil and jeera (cumin).

Shelf Life: 30 days

Storage Instructions: Store it in a cool and dry place in an air-tight container.

Madras Mixture

This is one of the most popular kaapi-time snacking items. It is a truly lip-smacking melange… or Mixture as it’s popularly known.

Ingredients: Sev, poha (flattened rice), kara boondi, peanuts, roasted channa dal, spices and curry leaves.

Muruku

Traditional Muruku famous in South India, is a very popular savoury. The interesting shape comes from the dough which is extracted using an ancient hand press called “Acchhu”.

Ingredients: Rice flour, salt and jeera (cumin).

Ribbon Pakoda

Another savoury item with an interesting twist, which is extruded in a flat ribbon shape. Bite into a piece of Ribbon Pakoda and discover for yourself the difference from Thattai. (By the way, in case you are wondering, as we are, why it was termed as Pakoda …keep guessing). That is the name given to it from the deepest regions of Tamil Nadu.

Seedai

These are hand rolled small balls that are great to pop into the mouth, with a swig of kaapi. Pop. Crunch. Slurp. The combination leaves a lingering taste!

Thattai

This is a traditional savoury item made of the top flavouring that includes curry leaves which are torn up and mixed in the dough. Thattai is crispy, crunchy and flaky, all at the same time. Spice amped up just right.

Ingredients: Rice flour, besan (gram flour), chana dal (bengal gram), white sesame, spices and salt.
